With the help of targeted prompts designed to reframe experiences for different industries, I could enhance my resume versions. I asked the AI to “rewrite my resume for a marketing/communications position” and “restructure my resume for administrative and office support positions” while keeping my original experiences and strengths. I also used prompts requesting stronger summaries, industry-specific keywords, and reframed bullet points that highlighted transferable skills.
These AI-generated versions differ from my original resume in that it places more emphasis on relevant skills associated with each field. For example, the marketing version focuses on creativity, content planning, and communication, while the administrative one focuses on scheduling, organization, and customer service. The bullet points were rewritten using action verbs and industry language to better match job descriptions.
The process further showed me how strong prompt engineering can be while fitting the content to target audiences of diverse natures. Changing a few words, such as naming the target industry, tone, or skillset, will completely alter the presentation of qualifications. I also learned that clarity and being direct with prompts produces more accurate and polished results.
